German midfielder Mesut Özil has announced the end of his professional career. He announced his decision on one of the social networks.

I announce my retirement from professional football. I have been playing for almost 17 years and I am very grateful for this opportunity. Recently, after a series of injuries, it became clear that the time had come to leave big football.
He thanked the clubs he played for during his career, as well as the coaches and players he worked with during that time.
Özil is 34 years old. During his career he played for German Schalke and Werder, English Arsenal, Real Madrid and Turkish Fenerbahce and Başakşehir. Özil played 92 matches and scored 23 goals for the German national team. He became the world champion with the national team in 2014.
