Inter Miami and Argentina striker Lionel Messi won the vote for the Ballon d'Or.
The ceremony was held on Monday, October 30 at the Theatre du Châtelet in Paris. The footballer won the award for the eighth time in his career. The prize was presented to him by the owner of Inter David Beckham.
Second place went to Manchester City striker Erling Haaland, and Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappé rounded out the top three.
Messi's contract with Inter runs until December 31, 2025. Last season, the 36-year-old player had 41 games for PSG in all tournaments, 21 goals and 20 assists.
The forward also played seven games at the World Cup, scoring there seven goals with three assists, and became the winner of the tournament. Transfermarkt website estimates the market value of Messi at €35 million.
It should be noted that the previous winner of the trophy was Al-Ittihad forward Karim Benzema.
