Lionel Messi, the 37-year-old Argentine forward and captain of Inter Miami, took to social media to celebrate his team's triumph in the MLS regular season.
On October 3, Inter Miami played an away match against Columbus Crew, winning 3-2 and securing the Supporters’ Shield, the trophy for the regular season champion. Messi notably scored two goals in this match.
Following the game, the legendary Argentine posted on social media to celebrate the victory.
Messi wrote, sharing photos from the match:
First goal accomplished Very proud of this team, we move forward with the desire to achieve more things together!!
With their division victory, Inter Miami is now set to compete for the main trophy – the MLS Cup, awarded to the playoff champion. This competition features 18 teams, with nine from each conference.
Moreover, winning the Supporters' Shield grants the club a spot in the CONCACAF Champions League. It’s worth noting that last year, Inter Miami did not even qualify for the MLS playoffs.
Previously, a photo emerged showing Messi, Suarez, Busquets, and Alba celebrating with the MLS regular season trophy.
Furthermore, Jorge Mas, co-owner of Inter Miami, presented Messi with the trophy in the locker room in front of the entire team.
