Argentina national team forward Lionel Messi stated that the 2024 Copa America will be his last in his career.
Messi is quoted by Mundo Deportivo as saying:
For me it's the last Copa, we played the last World Cup [Di Maria, Otamendi] and I are playing the last battles and we are enjoying it to the fullest.
Messi is the top scorer in the history of the Spanish championship, Barcelona, and the Argentine national team. The footballer has won the Ballon d'Or eight times and the Golden Boot six times.
Lionel has been playing for the Argentine national team since 2005. In 2021, the forward won his first trophy with the national team at the Copa America - 2021.
Lionel Messi has now reached second place by the number of goals scored for the national team.
