London's Chelsea have selected two main candidates for the head coach position, Daily Mail reports.
According to the publication, the favorites to lead the Blues are Ipswich Town's coach Kieran McKenna and Sporting's manager Ruben Amorim. It is noted that Chelsea are very interested in inviting Amorim, but the club's management is wary of the 15 million euros release clause for the Portuguese specialist.
In case contracts with McKenna or Amorim cannot be secured, Chelsea have two more coaches on the shortlist: Thomas Frank, who coaches Brentford, and Enzo Maresca from Leicester City.
After the most recent English Premier League (EPL) season, Chelsea finished sixth with 18 wins, 8 draws, and 11 losses.
On May 21, the London club announced the termination of Mauricio Pochettino's contract, who had led the coaching staff since the summer of 2023. It was reported that some players were dissatisfied with the Argentine coach's work. Chelsea midfielder Cole Palmer, on the other hand, thanked Pochettino for his work.
