On Saturday, September 21, Real Madrid secured a home victory in the sixth round of La Liga against Barcelona's Espanyol, winning 4-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
Kylian Mbappe, forward for Los Blancos, scored from the penalty spot during this match. The 25-year-old Frenchman had previously converted penalties against Real Betis (2-0) and Real Sociedad (2-0).
With this achievement, Kylian Mbappe became only the second player in Real Madrid's history to score from the penalty spot in three consecutive La Liga matches in the 21st century, following in the footsteps of his compatriot Karim Benzema, who accomplished this feat in 2022.
Mbappe joined Real Madrid last summer as a free agent. He has participated in eight matches across all competitions, scoring six goals and providing one assist. The 25-year-old forward has a contract with the club until the summer of 2029, and according to Transfermarkt, his market value is estimated at €180 million.
Previously, Mbappe commented on Real Madrid's victory over Stuttgart in their first match of the new UEFA Champions League season, winning 3-1. Additionally, the French forward confirmed that the primary penalty taker for the Madrid team will be Brazilian Vinicius Junior.
