Marseille captain Dimitri Payet left the team as a free agent. This was announced at a press conference by the president of the club Pablo Longoria.
The 36-year-old forward played for Marseille from 2013 to 2015 and from 2017 to 2023. Payet played a total of 268 matches for the Olympians in the French championship, scoring 60 goals.
Besides Marseille, Payet played for French Nantes, St Etienne and Lille, as well as English West Ham. Payet became the silver medalist of the 2016 European Championship as a member of the French national team.
