Inter Milan and France striker Marcus Thuram has told the story of his acquaintance with legendary Argentine forward Lionel Messi.
Marcus' father Lilian Thuram worked with Messi towards the end of his professional career, having spent two seasons in the Catalan capital from 2006 to 2008.
In an interview with AS Thuram recalled:
At the age of 10, I went to see my father training at Barça, and I didn’t have my boots with me. Messi was young, and after training, I wanted to go on the pitch with the other kids to play. Leo was almost the same size as me. He left me his shoes, I played, then he said ‘keep them’. At 10 years old, I didn’t realize what had just happened, and the next day, I gave them to a friend. I regret it every day.
Earlier, Lionel admitted that for all of Argentina Diego Maradona is an idol and an unattainable person.
The Inter Miami striker played for Barcelona from 2004 to 2021, winning ten Spanish Primera and four Champions League titles.
