Ángeles Behar, the mother of suspended head of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) Luis Rubiales, locked herself in one of the Spanish churches and went on hunger strike, reports Marca.
According to the source, the woman is currently in a church in Motril. She has stated that she will not end her hunger strike until the "inhumane hunt for her son" is over. Behar is demanding that Spain's national team footballer Jennifer Hermoso make a statement regarding an incident that occurred during the national team's award ceremony after winning the 2023 World Cup.
During the ceremony, Rubiales kissed Hermoso on the mouth without asking for her permission, which is considered an act of sexual assault. The official's mother insists that the kiss between her son and the footballer was consensual.
The International Football Federation (FIFA) suspended Rubiales from his position in the wake of the scandal.
