Spanish newspaper Marca reported that Kylian Mbappe, the striker for Paris Saint-Germain and the French national team, may need to accept a salary cut in order to secure a transfer to Real Madrid.
Real Madrid's management is hesitant to place the 25-year-old Mbappe above other players in terms of salary. However, the player is set to receive various bonuses upon signing the contract, including a "loyalty" bonus as per his previous agreement with PSG.
On February 16, according to RMC Sport, Mbappe informed his teammates at PSG of his decision to leave the club when his contract expires in June 2024. The following day, on February 17, Marca published a report suggesting that Mbappe could potentially join Barcelona as a free agent instead of Real Madrid, but Barcelona would need to offload some key players to accommodate him.
During the 2023/2024 season, Mbappe played 19 matches in Ligue 1, scoring 20 goals and providing four assists. He also netted four goals in seven Champions League games. The player's market value is estimated at 180 million euros by Transfermarkt.
