Diego Maradona Jr., the son of the legendary Argentine football player, has accused the doctors who treated his father in the final days of his life of negligence.
Diego Maradona passed away on November 25, 2020, at the age of 60, with heart failure cited as the cause of death. Just weeks before, he had undergone surgery to remove a subdural hematoma.
A court case regarding the death of the 1986 World Champion has begun in San Isidro, Argentina, with eight doctors facing charges. Maradona Jr. believes he will be able to prove medical negligence.
Murder charges have been filed against seven doctors; an eighth will stand trial before a jury. In Argentina, such crimes carry prison sentences ranging from 8 to 25 years. The plaintiffs in the case are five of Maradona's children: Dalma, Giannina, Jana, Diego, and Diego Fernando.
