Manchester City Midfielder Matheus Nunes Arrested for Phone Theft in Madrid Nightclub

El Mundo reported that Matheus Nunes, a midfielder for English Premier League club Manchester City, was arrested for stealing a mobile phone at a nightclub in Madrid.

According to reports, the 26-year-old Portuguese player was detained by police for taking a phone from a 58-year-old man who had photographed him in the restroom. Nunes was taken to a police station but was released a few hours later after providing an explanation.

The central midfielder joined City in September 2023 from Wolverhampton Wanderers. His contract with the club runs until the end of June 2028, and his market value is estimated at 40 million euros, according to Transfermarkt.

During the 2024/2025 season, Nunes has played three matches in the Premier League (with one assist), one match in the English League Cup (scoring one goal), and one game in the Champions League.

Former Manchester United and England defender, Gary Neville, believes that London’s Arsenal will be Manchester City's main competitor in the race for the championship title.
