Man Utd Legend Sums Up Erik Ten Hag's Tenure at the Club

Former Manchester United player and current football expert Gary Neville shared his thoughts on Dutch manager Erik ten Hag following his departure from the head coach position of the Red Devils.

Gary Neville for the Daily Mail
His legacy is definitely winning two trophies in two seasons through a very difficult point. The recruitment to be fair has been appalling for ten years and he's been a victim of that himself. I think he oversaw two of the worst transfers Manchester United will ever have made in the signings of Casemiro and Antony. But those signings are why United have had to go back into the transfer market and sign [Manuel] Ugarte and other players. That was the ultimate in poor management from those above Erik ten Hag.

The Dutchman managed Manchester United from July 1, 2022, until October 28, 2024, winning two trophies with the team – the FA Cup and the EFL Cup. Former "Red Devils" striker Ruud van Nistelrooy, who served as an assistant under ten Hag, has been appointed as the interim head coach.

In the English Premier League standings, the "Red Devils" sit in fourteenth place after nine matches, having earned 11 points.

In his first match as interim head coach, Ruud van Nistelrooy led Manchester United to a 5-2 victory over Leicester in the EFL Cup.

There’s also information indicating that during Erik ten Hag’s tenure as head coach, the Manchester club spent over 650 million euros on new player transfers.
