Josep Guardiola, the head coach of Manchester City, has shared his thoughts on the long-awaited return of English midfielder Phil Foden.
Guardiola was quoted as saying by the club's press service on their social media channels:
Phil had some disturbance in last few weeks but played a good 45 minutes in midweek and he was the best player last season and now he is fighting to be back. His intensity and his movement in the pockets... he is one of the best in the world. You can imagine how pleased I am to have him back.
Earlier, it was reported that Foden was not included in the squad for the second-round match of the English Championship against Ipswich Town, and he also missed the third-round meeting.
After a brief absence, Foden returned to the pitch during the first match of the group stage of the Champions League against Inter Milan, which took place on September 18 and ended in a goalless draw.
In the 2024/25 English Premier League season, Foden has played one match for Manchester City without scoring or making assists.
Guardiola also discussed in an interview with Goal why Erling Haaland failed to score against Inter in the Champions League.
