Actu Lyon has reported that Georges Mikautadze, a striker for Ligue 1 club Lyon and the Georgian national football team, was robbed in his home in Chassieu, eastern France.
On December 1, les Gones defeated Nice 4-1 in the 13th round of the French championship. The 24-year-old Mikautadze, a native of Lyon, was substituted in during the 71st minute but did not score. After the match, he returned home, where he was confronted by two unknown assailants. The thieves supposedly entered his home while threatening him with a weapon and stole jewelry worth up to 200,000 euros.
Mikautadze reported on his social media that he was not hurt. He expressed gratitude for the support he received and urged everyone to take care of themselves and their loved ones.
In the 2024/2025 season, Mikautadze, who joined Olympique Lyonnais on July 18 and signed a contract until June 2028, has scored two goals and provided one assist in 13 Ligue 1 matches. His market value is estimated at 20 million euros, according to Transfermarkt.
On November 20, Tuttosport reported that Mikautadze could become a player for Juventus due to Lyon's difficult financial situation.
