Midfielder Lucas Paqueta from West Ham United could potentially face a 10-year ban from football if proven guilty of match-fixing to earn money from betting.
Similar incidents have been seen in the past, such as Reading's Kynan Isaac who received a 10-year ban for intentionally getting sent off in a match. Charges have been brought against Paqueta for alleged misconduct in matches against Leicester, Leeds United, Aston Villa, and Bournemouth.
The 26-year-old Paqueta joined West Ham in September 2022 and has played 43 games this season, scoring 8 goals and making 7 assists.
