Sporting Lisbon's head coach Ruben Amorim is the front-runner for the manager position at Liverpool, as reported by journalist Fabrizio Romano on his social media.
Recall that Klopp previously announced his decision to leave the team at the end of the 2023/24 season after nine years at the club.
According to sources, Liverpool have turned down the idea of appointing Xabi Alonso from Bayer as head coach. The Liverpool management has now shifted focus to Ruben Amorim, currently leading Sporting Lisbon.
It is noted that the 39-year-old Portuguese specialist has a release clause of 15 million euros in his contract. The Reds are reportedly willing to pay this sum.
Amorim has been the head coach of Sporting since 2020. Under his guidance, the Lisbon club won the Portuguese championship for the first time in 20 years, as well as two national cups and one Super Cup.
Earlier, Liverpool compiled a list of three candidates to replace head coach Jurgen Klopp.
