On October 29, the parents of the striker were kidnapped by armed men from a gas station in the hometown of the footballer, Barrancas. The police freed Diaz's mother, a rescue operation was launched to free the player's father. It is known that the kidnappers are militants of the National Liberation Army (ELN) of Colombia.
