Liverpool's management has held preliminary discussions with Bayer Leverkusen's head coach Xabi Alonso, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg.
The "Reds" are parting ways with Jurgen Klopp starting from the next season, who announced his departure from the club at the end of the current campaign.
It is reported that Liverpool has reached out to the Spanish specialist's representatives regarding a potential appointment.
Earlier reports indicated that Bayern Munich also aims to appoint Xabi Alonso to replace Thomas Tuchel after the 2023/24 season. Liverpool scouts have already watched Bayer's head coach in a match against Bayern.
Alonso has been leading Bayer since 2022. After 22 Bundesliga rounds, Bayer leads the Bundesliga table, eight points ahead of Bayern.
