According to journalist Hernan Claus on social media, Lionel Messi, the forward for Inter Miami, is expected to participate in the match against Chicago Fire, scheduled for September 1.
The source indicated that the Argentine is still following an individual training program but will soon join the main training group of Inter Miami. While Messi will be available for the match against Chicago Fire, the priority is to have him fully fit for the game against Philadelphia Union on September 14.
Recall that Messi suffered an ankle injury during the Copa America 2024 final, in which Argentina faced Colombia, winning 1-0.
The 37-year-old Argentine has been with Inter Miami since 2023, and his contract with the club runs until 2025. Currently, Messi's transfer value, according to Transfermarkt, is estimated at €30 million.
Previously, Messi was not included in Argentina's squad for the September World Cup 2026 qualifiers due to the injury he sustained in the match against Colombia.
