American MLS club Inter Miami has chosen a captain. Forward of the national team of Argentina, newcomer to the team Lionel Messi was given the captain's armband.
The signing of the contract between Messi and Inter Miami was officially announced on July 16. The world champion joined the club from Florida as a free agent and will play as number ten. The Argentine is expected to make his debut on July 21 in the League Cup match against Mexican club Cruz Azul.
Messi's agreement with the Herons is valid until the end of the 2025 calendar year. It was reported that the Argentinian will receive a salary of about $60 million dollars a year at Inter Miami.
From 2021 to 2023 Messi played for the French PSG. He played 75 matches in the Parisian team for two seasons, scoring 32 goals and making 35 assists.
