Argentina national football team and Inter Miami USA striker Lionel Messi responded to a question about what records mean to him.
The official website of ESPN TV channel quotes Messi as saying:
I never gave importance to records. I wouldn't participate in the 2026 World Cup just to say that I'm the 1st footballer ever to play in 6 WCs.
In October last year, the Argentine footballer won a record eighth Ballon d'Or in his career. At the World Cup-2022 in Qatar, he set a dozen records, such as the number of goals for Argentina at the World Cup (13) and the largest number of matches at the World Cup (26).
Earlier it became known that Messi will not play at the Olympic tournament in Paris. Also, the striker does not know whether he will participate in the World Cup-2026.
