Uzbek defender Abdukodir Khusanov of Lens is in the process of obtaining a work visa for a transfer to English side Manchester City, according to Telecomasia.net.
Last week, the 20-year-old footballer and his representatives submitted all necessary documents for obtaining a visa to the UK.
Khusanov and his agents are expected to fly to Manchester to sign a contract by the end of this month.
The agency representing the Uzbekistan national team player chose Manchester City due to the personal interest of head coach Pep Guardiola.
Previously, Khusanov attracted the attention of top clubs such as Chelsea and Newcastle from England, as well as PSG from France. Khusanov’s agents found the Paris option unsatisfactory because of the lack of guarantees of playing time.
It is worth noting that in 2023, Khusanov played for the Belarusian club Energetik-BGU, from which he transferred to Lens in July of the same year for 100,000 euros.
Khusanov made 31 appearances for Lens, providing one assist. His contract with the French club runs until June 2027, and his market value is estimated at 12 million euros by Transfermarkt.
