Barcelona president Joan Laporta may be suspended from his position following inappropriate outbursts. This information was reported by COPE.
Previously, Spain National Sports Council (CSD) allowed the temporary registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor despite the refusals from La Liga and the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).
The official was heard shouting expletives, calling the representatives of La Liga and RFEF “Sons of wh***s”, “cowards” and “rats”. His comments were captured on camera in the VIP area of the stadium in Jeddah, where the Copa del Rey semifinal match between Barcelona and Athletic Club took place (2-0).
According to COPE, Laporta could face suspension if the RFEF Competition Committee reviews the case.
Laporta has been the president of the club since March 2021. Under his leadership, the club won the Spanish championship, the Cup, and the national Super Cup. After 19 matches, Barcelona sit in third place in the La Liga standings, accumulating 38 points, while Real Madrid lead with 43 points.
