Liverpool's head coach Jurgen Klopp has commented on his team's performance in the UEFA Europa League quarter-final second leg against Atalanta.
Klopp told BBC:
The reasons for not making it to the semi-finals? We lacked quality from our leading players. If Trent Alexander-Arnold had been a bit fitter, we could have gone a bit longer, but it’s insane that he even played! In the end, he was running out of gas.
It's worth mentioning that despite Liverpool winning the away second-leg match against Atalanta (1-0), they lost to the Italian club with an overall score of 1-3 and exited the tournament. Atalanta will face French side Marseille in the Europa League semi-finals.
Klopp also stated that Liverpool deserved to lose in the first match against Atalanta.
Earlier, the Reds set a club record for the most goals conceded in home matches.
