According to Kicker, Florian Wirtz’s father and agent, Hans-Joachim Wirtz, wants to see his son in the lineup of Bayer Leverkusen.
However, the 21-year-old attacking midfielder has not yet made any decisions regarding his future. Wirtz wants to consider primarily the head coach of the team he may join. Sources indicate that Bayern is prepared to offer attractive contractual and financial terms to Wirtz, making a transfer possible in the summer transfer window of 2025.
Wirtz, a product of Bayer academy, has been a key player since January 2020 and has won the German championship and the domestic cup, along with the German Supercup, during the 2023/2024 season.
In the 2024/2025 season, Wirtz played 27 matches in the Bundesliga, scoring seven goals and providing 11 assists, as well as competing in nine UEFA Champions League matches, where he scored six goals and made one assist. His contract with Bayer runs until the end of June 2027, and his market value is estimated at €140 million by Transfermarkt.
On March 11, Football Insider reported that Manchester City have initiated talks with Wirtz's camp regarding a potential transfer in the summer of 2025. Earlier, on June 9, 2024, Marca reported that Real Madrid had reached an agreement with Bayer for the transfer of the midfielder.
