Former Burkina Faso midfielder Charles Kabore, who previously played in Russia, has expressed his thoughts on the idea of a friendly match between the national teams.
Yes, I saw that the Russians played against Belarus and other teams. A match with Burkina Faso? That is possible. It would be great to play against Russia. If Burkina Faso plays against Russia, I would go to that game. Burkina Faso is my homeland, and I played in Russia for several years. So it would be something special for me.
“If I'm asked to help out, I'd be happy to assist with the organization. If they approach me, I can talk to the federation, and we’ll work everything out. However, I think that Russia and Burkina Faso already have good relations, and the federations can handle things between themselves. It would be a real pleasure to watch a game in Russia and catch up with friends," Kabore told Telecomasia.net.
Kabore played in Russia from 2013 to 2021, representing FC Kuban, FC Krasnodar, and FC Dynamo. In total, the former player has played 188 matches in the Russian Premier League, with two goals and 15 assists.
It should be noted that the Russian national team has been suspended from international matches under FIFA and UEFA since February 2022, a decision made after Russian invasion of Ukraine.
