Juventus Turin have issued an official statement on the situation with illegal bets of the club's 22-year-old midfielder Nicolo Fagioli.
Recall, on October 17, it became known that the midfielder of the Turin club Nicolo Fagioli received a seven-month disqualification for illegal betting. The agent of the 22-year-old footballer said that his client suffers from gambling addiction and will undergo the necessary treatment.
The statement reads:
We are firmly convinced that Nicolo, with the support of the club, his team-mates, his family and the professionals who will assist him, will face the therapeutic and training process with a great sense of responsibility and, once the disqualification has been served, will be able to return to competing with due serenity.
During questioning, Nicolo Faggioli confessed to investigators that he made illegal bets on sports. Football agent Marco Giordano, who represents the interests of the Juventus midfielder, confirmed that his client has a gambling addiction, which is also called ludomania.
It is believed that ludomania can be a mitigating factor in sentencing, so Fagioli faces a disqualification of only seven months. Although illegal betting convictions result in penalties of one to three years.
Fagioli played six Serie A matches for the Old Lady in the 2023/24 season, in which he made one assist. The player's current contract with Turin is valid until the end of June 2026.
