Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg has reported that Bayer Leverkusen and German national team defender Jonathan Tah is set to move to Barcelona in the upcoming summer transfer window.
According to Plettenberg, the 29-year-old center-back has had a verbal agreement with the Catalan club for several weeks regarding a summer transfer.
Plettenberg also notes that Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are closely monitoring Tah's situation. A move to the Madrid club may become a possibility if the current Bayer coach, Xabi Alonso, takes over at Real this summer.
Recently, Jonathan Tah announced that he will leave Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the season, saying that he hasn't reached an agreement on a new contract with the club.
This season, the 29-year-old defender has played 45 matches across all competitions for the German club, scoring three goals and providing one assist. Transfermarkt estimates the player at 30 million euros.
Currently, Barcelona lead the La Liga standings with 76 points after 33 matches played.
Earlier, it was revealed that midfielder Florian Wirtz has yet to make a decision regarding his departure from Bayer.
Additionally, journalist Florian Plettenberg reported that Xabi Alonso, the coach of Leverkusen, is expected to replace Italian Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid.
