Manchester City head coach Josep Guardiola has shared his opinion on how long City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne will be able to perform at a top level.
City Xtra quoted Guardiola as saying:
If he said January, it will be January. However, I don't think such a long pause without soccer will do Kevin any good. I think he would have preferred to be with us but football is a lot of years already. He is not 21 anymore, time runs and he unfortunately had this injury. He has to recover and make a step back again.
Recall, the Belgian's injury became known in August 2023. The player will miss from three to four months because of it. The midfielder was also injured in the first half of the Champions League final of the season-2022/23 against Inter.
De Bruyne has been playing for Manchester City since August 2015. The player's contract with the team runs until June 30, 2025.
The Belgian has played 358 matches for Manchester City, in which he scored 96 goals and gave 153 assists. Transfermarkt portal estimates the transfer value of the midfielder at €70 million.
