Former Liverpool defender Joel Matip has announced his retirement from football at the age of 33, as confirmed by the English club's press service.
Matip left Liverpool in the summer of 2024 after spending seven years with the Reds.
He joined Liverpool in 2016 from German club Schalke 04 and made 201 appearances for the English side, scoring 11 goals and providing six assists.
Earlier, 40-year-old former Barcelona midfielder and Spanish national team player Andres Iniesta also announced his retirement from professional football.
