During his playing career, Mascherano was a member of FC Barcelona. Currently, several former Barcelona players are part of the Inter Miami roster, including Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, Luis Suárez, and Jordi Alba.
In the 2024 season, the club finished first in the Eastern Conference, earning 74 points in 34 matches, but lost to Atlanta United in the Round of 16 in a best-of-three series (1-2).
