Inter Miami head coach Gerardo Martino has commented on rumors that Lionel Messi could return to Barcelona.
According to Spanish media, the Blaugrana may loan the Argentine striker to David Beckham's team in the North American Major League Soccer (MLS).
Messi played for Barcelona from 2003 to 2021, won 35 trophies with the team and scored 672 goals in 778 matches.
Infobae quoted Martino as saying:
Is he going for fun? Maybe he's going to visit Barcelona. Other than that, I don't know anything else about it.
Messi moved from PSG to Inter Miami in July 2023. The contract runs until the end of the 2023/24 season, but rumors say the Argentine may move to another club on loan if the team fails to qualify for the MLS playoffs. In the regular season match against Cincinnati, which took place on the night of October 7-8, Inter Miami lost the chance to continue the fight.
Earlier it became known that Messi was called up to the national team of Argentina for the October qualifying matches of the World Cup 2026.
