German national team midfielder Ilkay Gundogan spoke about his team's advancement to the quarterfinals of the 2024 European Championship.
The midfielder's words were reported by the UEFA press service:
Ilkay Gundogan
A very tight match, and we got a bit lucky. Denmark defended very well throughout most of the game, but we deserved the victory. It was a great atmosphere when the national anthem was playing, you could really feel the crowd ready to support us. I expected nothing less than this from Dortmund.
In the quarterfinals of the home tournament, Julian Nagelsmann's team will face the winner of the Spain vs. Georgia match, which will take place on June 30 and begin at 22:00 GMT+3.
Germany's head coach, Julian Nagelsmann, considered his team's game with Denmark strange, and urged his players to be more patient in creating goal-scoring opportunities in the game.
