Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola has expressed his hope that his team’s Spanish midfielder, Rodri, will win the Ballon d'Or, according to Goal.
Guardiola is quoted by Goal as saying:
He's the best holding midfielder in the world, he is a potential Ballon d'Or winner, I would love for him to win.
The Ballon d'Or ceremony is scheduled to take place on October 28 in Paris. This year, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are not among the nominees for the first time since 2003.
Rodri has been with Manchester City since 2019. In the 2023/24 season, he has played 50 matches across all competitions, scoring nine goals and providing 14 assists. The Spanish player was named his national team's best player at Euro 2024.
Earlier reports suggested that the player might be signed by Real Madrid.
