Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola intends to leave the club after the current season, according to Footmercato journalist Josep Pedrerol.
The source reports that last summer, Guardiola considered departing the team to take over as England's national team coach, but Thomas Tuchel was appointed to that position instead. With no other offers available, the Spanish manager chose to remain with Manchester City. However, he still wishes to part ways with the English club.
Guardiola has been at the helm since 2016, and his contract runs through 2027. After 25 matches, Manchester City are fourth in the Premier League table with 44 points. In their most recent match, City lost to Real Madrid 1-3 in the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16, resulting in their elimination from the tournament.
Earlier reports from Mirror indicated that Guardiola wants to release eight first-team players from Manchester City.
