Head coach of the English Premier League (EPL) club Manchester City Josep Guardiola named the terms for leaving the team and retiring at the end of the season-2023/2024.
According to the 52-year-old Spanish specialist, it will only happen in the case of winning the treble: the Premier League, the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League.
The Daily Mail quoted Guardiola as saying:
If we win the treble this season, I'll retire. That's for sure. I know it is extremely difficult, how many incredible teams have been in England and just one with Sir Alex Ferguson has done it and ourselves last season.
The City is fourth in the EPL standings with 30 points after 15 matches played, six points behind the leading Arsenal. On December 7, Guardiola's men lost 0-1 to Aston Villa in Birmingham.
In a conversation with The Straits Times Guardiola admitted that he considers his team the Premier League favorite. Recall that the Spaniard coached Barcelona before coming to the City. He has been the head coach of Manchester City since February 2016 and has led his charges to victory in the championship of England five times (2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023).
