Manchester City head coach Josep Guardiola has stated that striker Erling Haaland should not be held responsible for the team’s recent poor performances.
Manchester City has suffered five consecutive losses across all competitions, with Haaland featuring in four of those matches and scoring just one goal.
Guardiola said at a press conference:
I would say the reason for our lack of goals is not Erling Haaland. Without Erling, we would be more in trouble! We are lucky to have Erling. Every game, he has three or four chances. One day he scores two or three. Name a team that doesn't rely on his goals. The Norwegian national team also depends on him.
Haaland remains the leading scorer in the current Premier League season with 12 goals, and he has also set a league scoring record.
Earlier, Deco, the sporting director of Barcelona, assured that the Catalan club does not plan to pursue a transfer for Haaland in the near future.
