Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola stated that he had to include defender Abdukodir Khusanov in the lineup for the 23rd matchday against Chelsea out of necessity.
Recall that the match took place on January 25 at Manchester City's home ground, ending in a 3:1 victory for the team. The 20-year-old Uzbek center-back made his debut for the team but made an error that led to Chelsea's only goal: in the third minute, Khusanov made a poor header pass, which was intercepted by Chelsea forward Chukwunonso Madueke. After halftime, Khusanov received a yellow card in the fourth minute and was substituted by John Stones.
Khusanov should not have played; he should have taken more time. It's not easy against Chelsea in the Premier League when you come from another country and can't really communicate with the teammates. He arrived without training and still has to figure out what to do and the process around it ... Imagine going through what Khusanov has experienced and what happened, 'Oh God!'
Khusanov joined the team on January 20, transferring from French Ligue 1 club Lens. The current contract of the Uzbek player with Manchester City runs until the end of June 2029. Transfermarkt estimates Khusanov at 12 million euros.
