Manchester City's head coach, Pep Guardiola, has apologized to midfielder Calvin Phillips for remarks about the player's weight.
Phillips, who is currently on loan at West Ham, admitted that the coach's comments had shaken his confidence. The player faced weight issues after returning from the 2022 World Cup.
The Guardian quotes the specialist as saying:
Pep Guardiola
Yes, I’m so sorry. I apologize to him. I spoke to him before (making the comment). I never, ever don't speak to the team before I say something here, or the player in that case.
Previously, Guardiola named Rodri as the best midfielder in the world today. Additionally, Pep advised Barcelona's management to remain calm concerning Xavi.
