On February 21, the draw for the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 for the 2024/25 season took place. Following the draw, the portal Goal released an updated list of tournament favorites.
According to the publication, Barcelona emerged as the favorites to win the UEFA Champions League after the draw. English club Liverpool dropped to third place, allowing Real Madrid to secure the second position.
Following them in the rankings are Inter, Bayer, Atletico, Bayern Munich, PSG, Arsenal, with Aston Villa rounding out the top ten.
It is important to note that Barcelona finished second in the group stage, earning 19 points over eight matches.
The following pairings were determined for the Round of 16: Brugge vs. Aston Villa, Borussia Dortmund vs. Lille, Real Madrid vs. Atletico, Bayern vs. Bayer, PSV vs. Arsenal, Feyenoord vs. Inter, PSG vs. Liverpool, Benfica vs. Barcelona.
The Round of 16 matches will take place on March 4-5 and 11-12, 2025. The UEFA Champions League final is scheduled for May 31 in Munich, Germany.
Earlier, it was reported that Barcelona have already scored more goals in 36 matches than they did throughout the entire previous season.
