Barcelona midfielder Ilkay Gundogan will captain the German national football team at the 2024 European Championship, according to head coach Julian Nagelsmann during a press conference.
According to Sky journalist Florian Pletteneberg, the second captain on the list will be Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich, followed by his teammate Thomas Muller.
The 2024 European Championship will take place from June 14th to July 14th in ten cities across Germany. During the group stage, the tournament hosts will face Scotland, Hungary, and Switzerland.
In mid-May, the German team announced its squad for Euro 2024. However, Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels admitted to feeling disappointed about not being included in the national team.
