Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad and French national team midfielder N'Golo Kanté has become the owner of Royal Excelsior Virton, a club that plays in Belgium's First National Division.
The press service of the club reported that the deal will take effect on July 1. A new board of directors for Virton will be formed in the coming days.
According to the results of the season 2022/2023, Excelsior Virton, playing in the Challenger Pro League (the second strongest level of Belgian football), took the 12th and last place in the standings with 25 points. The team will spend the next season in the third-tier league of the country.
