French journalist Daniel Riolo has harshly criticized Real Madrid and French national team forward Kylian Mbappe for his performances in the current football season.
On November 27, Mbappe missed a penalty during the fifth matchday of the Champions League group stage against Liverpool. The match took place in England and ended with the Spanish side losing 0-2.
Daniel Riolo for RMC Sport
He breathes discomfort. It’s sad but (Mbappé) is no longer a football player. He does nothing, achieves nothing. He can't even run anymore. In the penalty, he has a trembling foot. He is so far back, so anxious that he is afraid to strike the ball. He fears missing, in reality.
The 25-year-old forward joined Real Madrid from PSG as a free agent in the summer of 2024. Mbappe's contract with the club is valid until June 30, 2029.
This season, the player has appeared in 18 matches across all competitions, scoring nine goals and providing two assists. According to Transfermarkt, his market value is estimated at 180 million euros.
