Former President of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Luis Rubiales, currently in the Dominican Republic, plans to return to his homeland on April 6, as reported by AS.
Upon his arrival back in Spain, the 46-year-old official will be taken into custody immediately, following an arrest warrant issued by the country's prosecutors on March 20. The case involves a contract with Saudi Arabia that would have transferred the rights to host the Super Cup to the Middle Eastern state. The agreement was set to earn RFEF 40 million euros annually.
On November 30, 2023, Rubiales was suspended from football activities for three years due to a scandal involving his forcibly kissing Jennifer Hermoso, a forward on the national team, during the awards ceremony of the 2023 Women's World Cup.
