
Former Liverpool and England midfielder Steven Gerrard has stepped down as head coach of Al-Ettifaq, according to the club's press office in Saudi Arabia.
Journalist Ben Jacobs reports that the reasons for Gerrard's departure from Al-Ettifaq are personal.
After 17 rounds of the current Saudi Pro League season, Al-Ettifaq sit in 12th place in the table with 19 points.
Gerrard took charge of Al-Ettifaq in the summer of 2023. During his time at the helm, the team recorded 23 wins in 59 matches.
Al-Ettifaq was the third major club in Gerrard's managerial career. Previously, he managed Scottish club Rangers and English club Aston Villa.
