Former Senegalese midfielder of several Kazakh clubs Abdulai Diakate in an interview with Telecomasia.net spoke about the delays in salaries in the KPL.
- Were salaries often delayed in Kazakhstan?
- Yes, it happened very often. Some clubs could delay salaries for three to four months. However, this is football, and it’s not an exclusive problem to Kazakhstan, it happens abroad too. Honestly, it is difficult to eradicate this problem. Some clubs may not have enough budget, and they may ask players to reduce their salaries. At the beginning of the season, there are no problems with money, but starting from the middle - around summer, there are always some issues that contribute to salary delays.
It is worth noting that Diakate played for Taraz, Ordabasy, Atyrau, Turan, and Caspian in Kazakhstan. In total, the Senegalese spent 12 years in Kazakhstan.
