Former Barcelona Player Pique Summoned to Court Over Corruption Case

Former Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has been called to testify in court regarding a corruption case linked to the transfer of Saudi Arabia's rights to host the Spanish Super Cup. This information was reported by EFE.

In 2019, the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) signed an agreement with Saudi Arabia for the tournament to take place there. The deal was facilitated by Kosmos, the agency managed by Pique.

He faces allegations related to receiving a commission of 4 million euros under this contract.

Pique retired from professional football in November 2022. The 38-year-old Spanish player had a career with clubs including Barcelona, Zaragoza, and Manchester United.

In related news, Barcelona has recently extended Robert Lewandowski's contract.
