Former Barcelona midfielder Alexander Hleb shared his thoughts on the current season of the Catalan club in an interview with Telecomasia.net. He also discussed his expectations for the team's coach, Hansi Flick, at the start of the season.
- Does it feel like Flick a breath of fresh air after Xavi?
– Absolutely. To be honest, I didn’t expect Barcelona to be doing so well. I didn't think that a German coach could create such an atmosphere and establish a solid playing style at Barcelona. Flick is doing great. I didn’t believe in him at first, but I was wrong.
- Do you keep in touch with Xavi?
– No, I don’t communicate with Xavi. My Spanish is not very good, and he doesn’t speak much English. So, our conversations have always been limited.
After 13 rounds of La Liga, Barcelona sit in first place. Under Hansi Flick’s leadership, the team has accumulated 33 points from 13 matches, scoring 40 goals while conceding just 12.
Hleb played for Barcelona from 2008 to 2011 and was part of the squad that won La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the UEFA Champions League in the 2008/2009 season, securing a historic treble.
