Former Barcelona and Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes has been appointed as the new manager of Real Avila, a club competing in Spain's fourth tier division.
The 43-year-old coach has signed a contract that runs until the end of the current season, with an option to extend it for the 2025/26 season.
Currently, Real Avila are sitting in fourth place in the fourth division and fighting for promotion, although the team is on a three-match losing streak.
It's noteworthy that the former Spanish national team goalkeeper has not coached for the past four years. He previously worked with youth teams at Barcelona, as well as with the clubs Moratalaz and Unio Atletica d'Horta.
Most of Victor Valdes's career was spent with Barcelona, where he played from 2002 to 2014.
Recently, it was announced that Barcelona midfielder Pedri has been named the best player in La Liga for April.
In other news, the head coach of Barcelona, Hans-Dieter Flick, is set to extend his contract with the club until the summer of 2027.
